Feature Request: abbreviated shorting capability

I believe that many users are anxious for shorting capability. Is it possible to create a first cut, abbreviated short capability where returns are simply multiplied by (-1)? I know that the final shorting solution will be much more complete, but I would venture to guess that many users would appreciate a simple solution as a starting point.
